Space to Heal

Sometimes life can be thrown off balance. A significant event like leaving home for college; the birth of a child; the loss of a loved one; or the diagnosis of an illness can disrupt our sense of self, our current equilibrium leading to a period of anxiety, depression or a feeling of helplessness. At The Psychology Room we know that life does not always run smoothly. We often need to pause, understand our distress and sometimes, seek help to find a way through. We must find a new way to balance our life now that something has changed. Using trusted counselling and clinical techniques, we work with you to find a new equilibrium, to create a sense of calm and a confidence in your ability to handle this new life stage.


Space to Grow

Have you just faced a major life disruption? Maybe a change of job, or a loss of a job? Change of work environment, a new boss? Breakdown of a relationship or of a marriage? Or maybe you have relocated to a new area. Now you need space to work out how to grow into this new life. Person centred therapy, focused on you. At The Psychology Room we provide space for you to develop new coping skills, build on your existing resilience and determine how you want your future to look. Taking the time, during a period of major life change, to focus on you, and on your goals, will help you transition smoothly to a new life stage, a new work role, a new relationship role, a new home, a new neighbourhood, a new way of working.

Team

After taking a career break when my children were young, I returned to university and completed a post graduate degree in psychology in University College Dublin. To deepen my understanding of clinical psychology, I pursued a Masters in Psychological Science in UCD, with particular emphasis on counselling and clinical skills; psychological interventions; psychometric testing and research. My focus during my studies was on the treatment of depression and anxiety, particularly, in the perinatal and postnatal period.

I now provide a dedicated Psychology and Counselling Service based in Donnybrook, Dublin 4 and Dunshaughlin Co. Meath for face-to-face counselling and a video service for remote sessions. I offer assessments and evidence-based psychological therapy for individuals. My main therapeutic approaches are Person Centred Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I also use Narrative Therapy, Compassion Focused Therapy and Mindfulness techniques in my work.

I run a Perinatal Service for pregnant women and women in the postnatal period. I am able to help with postnatal depression and anxiety, antenatal depression and anxiety, birth trauma and difficulties adjusting to parenthood.

I am passionate about my work and I am approachable, supportive and compassionate. I provide a safe, confidential and non-judgmental environment in which to explore clients’ current difficulties.
